MADISON — Several extremely busy streets in Madison are getting a unique overhaul in 2023 and 2024 thanks to WTBA members.
It’s no small task – working in the heart of shopping corridors and, eventually, the heart of the state capital.
Zenith Tech (prime), Parisi (both Walbec Group companies), and Pro Electric will create dedicated bus lanes down the center of streets such as East Washington Avenue and Mineral Point Road, while adding upwards of 40 bus stops, platforms, and charging stations (the buses are all electric).
When finished, BRT should shave time off bus riders’ commutes and – in theory – drivers’ trips, too.
“A great team building effort between Walbec,” Parisi Supervisor John Kjos told WTBA during a site visit last month. “The coordination’s been really good.”
The project stretches approximately 15 miles, from Madison’s far west side near the Beltline to Sun Prairie in the east.
