ELKHART LAKE, Wis. — In the midst of a busy summer work season, sometimes you have to burn off some steam, or… burn some rubber.
The WTBA of Tomorrow Council tore up the Motorplex racetrack on go-karts for a few hours Thursday afternoon at Road America in Elkhart Lake.
The day wasn’t only about fun – some true learning went on first. Former three-time state Assemblyman Joe Handrick provided the Council with some eye-opening insights into the potential Legislative shakeup coming this fall.
Handrick walked members through the structure of newly drawn district maps ahead of an election which will feature half of the state Senate and all 99 state Assembly seats up for grabs.
Handrick, who’s known for his detailed and knowledgeable analysis on election nights, helped WTBA of Tomorrow members grasp how the changing political landscape could impact Transportation spending and other industry matters when the biennial budget comes up early next year.
Back on the course, the winner’s circle belonged to Northeast Asphalt’s Taylor Tauer, who rocketed past the crowd with first-place lap times of 46 and 45 seconds respectively on separate runs.
As of press time, it’s unclear if NEA and Tauer’s role in repaving Road America two years ago led to him getting the fastest kart…
