Miles Miller enjoys getting around by foot, spending a lot of time exploring nature and hiking.
But the Edgerton High School sophomore also wants his driver’s license. It all begins and ends with a road, after all…
Miller’s quest to drive earned him a $500 scholarship as the latest Work Zone Safe Wisconsin winner. He took the online program through his CESA 2 driver’s education course.
“It’s a good course that really sets the dangers of driving and work zones in your mind,” Miller told WTBA.
Work Zone Safe is a free online tool that dozens of driving schools have adopted statewide since WTBA and its partners launched it in April 2024. The course teaches young drivers about the people, changes, and challenges they’ll encounter when they drive through work zones.
More than 2,600 people have successfully completed the program, making them eligible for the monthly scholarships, sponsored exclusively by the Wisconsin County Highway Association.
Miller hopes to use the scholarship to help pay for a degree from UW-Madison, aiming to one day become a surgical pathologist. We’d say he’s definitely headed down the right path in life, whether he’s driving or walking.
