Construction crews will put in some very long days (and nights) the next several weekends as WisDOT leans on a proven method to get a lot of paving done in a short period of time.
I-41/894 northbound between 76th Street and Greenfield Avenue in Milwaukee County will fully close Friday, Sept. 12 at 11 p.m. through Monday, Sept. 15 at 5:30 a.m. They’ll repeat the full closures the following weekend, Sept. 19-22.
The closure allows for repaving more than three miles of interstate in a matter of days instead of months. WTBA featured Payne+Dolan’s directional closure paving earlier this year along the I-894 bypass.
Drivers should use designated detours along Highway 100 and Layton Avenue to get around the closures each weekend.
WisDOT plans to fully close the southbound side for similar work over two weekends in October.
