Welcome to the Countdown to Convention!
This year, we’re heading west to the beautiful Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort in sunny Arizona.
It’s hard to believe it has been nearly a quarter century since our last roadbuilders meeting in Scottsdale. A lot has changed since then including technology, the industry, and (hopefully) our fashion choices. But just like some of those questionable styles from 25 years ago, Scottsdale is making a comeback!
We have an exceptional week planned for you.
Our educational sessions will focus on one of the most important topics facing all of us—leadership. Whether you’re leading a company, a division, a crew, or simply trying to become a better leader yourself, there is always more to learn. We’ll hear from some outstanding speakers who will challenge us to think differently, give us some new ideas, and hopefully send us home with a few things we can put into practice right away.
It’s also time to engage in conversations over dinner and renew the friendships that have developed over years in this industry. There’s also the chance to meet new people and reconnect with old friends you haven’t seen in awhile. It’s about sharing a few stories, talking about the challenges we’re facing, and maybe solving the world’s problems over a drink.
And Scottsdale gives us a great backdrop for all of it.
There will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the resort and its seven pools, explore the city, get out on the golf course, experience some of the incredible scenery, and spend time with family and friends. Bring your family, your coworkers and make a week of it.
Our industry moves fast, and it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day demands of running a business. This meeting gives us a chance to slow down for a few days, invest in ourselves, and invest in the relationships that make our industry stronger.
I’m looking forward to seeing all of you, enjoying some Arizona sunshine, and making a few more memories together.

Escape to the desert oasis of Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort where elevated luxury awaits. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, open spaces mingle harmoniously with the natural landscape and 2.5-acre outdoor pool oasis.
GUEST ROOM RESERVATIONS

If you would like to upgrade to a suite, please note that availability is very limited. To inquire about suite availability, contact the resort reservations department directly at 480-444-1234.
If you plan to extend your stay, the discounted group rate is available for up to three days before and three days after the event, subject to availability.
The WTBA room block will be available until January 22, 2027, or until the block sells out, whichever comes first. Reservations made after that date will be subject to hotel availability and may not qualify for the discounted group rate.

You must register for your hotel room separately on the Resort Information & Reservations tab.
Member: $1,400 | Spouse/Guest: $700
Children (under 18): Complimentary. Please register all children so that we have an accurate count for meals.
Registration Fee includes admission to General Sessions, Breakfasts, President’s Welcome Reception, Auction Dinner, Closing Dinner, and Hospitality each evening.
Event cancellation policy: Full refund if notification is submitted via email to cdemarco@wtba.org 15 days prior to the event.

All optional group activities will occur the afternoon of Tuesday, February 23

GOLF OUTING
12:30 p.m. Shotgun Start
TPC Scottsdale Champions Course
Fee: $350 per person | Club Rentals: $95
Includes transportation, green fees, cart rental, box lunch, and unlimited beverages.
Set in the rugged Sonoran Desert and surrounded by the stunning McDowell Mountains, TPC Scottsdale Champions Course rivals its famous sister course in both beauty and playability.
HIKES & HOPS
Fee: $300 per person
Includes transportation, 2-hour guided hike, drinks & bites at the O.H.S.O. Distillery
Venture into the picturesque Sonoran Desert and learn about the unique flora, fauna, geology, and history from knowledgeable and professional guides. After the hike you will shuttle (15 minutes) to the O.H.S.O. Distillery with more than 40+ beers on tap.
Hike Difficulty: Beginner (athletic closed toe shoes required)
Total Activity Time: Approximately 4.5 hours (including 20-minute shuttle rides each way)
OLD TOWN SCOTTSDALE WALKING FOOD TOUR
Fee: $320 per person
Includes transportation, food samples at 4-5 restaurants (easily fill you up for lunch) and 2-3 drink alcoholic beverages.
Experience the culture and historical charm of the Southwest one taste at a time! Expert guides will share the history of Old Town Scottsdale as you visit 4-5 iconic Scottsdale restaurants.
Total Activity Time: Approximately 4.5 hours (including 20-minute shuttle rides each way)
UTV ADVENTURE
Fee: $350 per person
Includes transportation, UTV rental, guided tour, protective gear.
Experience the Sonoran Desert on a 2-hour guided tour packed with hands-on trail time, expert instruction, stunning mountain views, and plenty of stops for photos. Appropriate for both first-time & experienced drivers.
Total Activity Time: Approximately 4 hours (including 35-minute shuttle rides each way)
AREA GOLF & ATTRACTIONS
Walkable from the resort and nestled in breathtaking desert scenery, Gainey Ranch Golf Club offers a rewarding year-round challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Gainey Ranch Golf Club is a private country club that allows guests of the Grand Hyatt to play on a limited basis. 27 holes and full practice facility (driving range, putting green and short game area). Contact the resort Concierge for tee time availability (480) 444-1234.
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West
Enjoy a personalized tour of Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert masterpiece nestled in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains. Walk through its courtyards, citrus grove, and garden paths surrounded by native desert flora, and see the spaces where Wright lived and worked. Designed as an architectural experiment, Taliesin West reflects Wright’s philosophy of organic design, where buildings exist in harmony with the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert.
HORSEBACK RIDING
Saddle up for a classic cowboy adventure through Arizona’s breathtaking desert landscape. Ride alongside experienced wranglers and trail horses as you explore sun-drenched foothills, cross the gentle Verde River, and discover the unique wildlife and flora of the Sonoran Desert. HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES
Take your sightseeing adventures to new heights – literally. Get a birds-eye-view of the Sonoran Desert in an extraordinary way. Listen to the whoosh of propane as the balloon goes higher. HIKING

WESTERN SPIRIT: SCOTTSDALE MUSEUM OF THE WEST
Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West is located in Old Town Scottsdale, The two -story, 43,000 -square -foot museum features the art, culture and history of 19 states in the American West, Western Canada, and Mexico and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institute since 2016
ODYSEA SEA AQUARIUM is the largest aquarium in the southwest with 2,000,000 gallons of water and boasts over 30,000 animals. Enter into a true water world! Explore hands -on exhibits, such as touch pools and a 3-D movie – fun and awe for all ages.
SHOPPING
FIFTH AVENUE SHOPS A bronze horse statue and fountain marks the entrance to the exclusive Fifth Avenue Shops, embracing clothing boutiques, art galleries, craft shops, coffee shops and restaurants. Individual store hours vary.
SCOTTSDALE QUARTER An open-air center, and one of Scottsdale’s top shopping destinations. Located in ‘the Beverly Hills of the Desert,’, The Quarter offers some of the best shopping in Scottsdale with over 48 retailers.
KIERLAND COMMONS Stylish outdoor shopping center with upscale designer shops, restaurants & bars. Enjoy a breathtaking landscape, highly sought retailers, and unique dining options.
AIRPORT & GROUND TRANSPORTATION
Closest Airport: Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) Located 18 miles from the resort.
Uber / Taxi: Fares range from $35–$45 each way, depending on traffic and time of day
Waymo: Want to try a driverless ride? Waymo offers a fun and unique way to get to the resort — you’ll ride in a fully autonomous vehicle with no driver behind the wheel. Fares typically range from $30–$45 each way.
Car Rentals: Major rental companies are located at or near the airport, including: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National
DINING
WTBA will host a breakfast buffet each morning of General Sessions, as well as dinner on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday evenings. Lunch each day and dinner Tuesday night are on your own.
The resort offers a variety of indoor & outdoor restaurants and bars to suit every taste. CLICK HERE to explore dining options available on the property. Dinner reservations are highly recommended.

PLAN YOUR STAY
WEATHER
Late February in Scottsdale typically brings beautiful, mild weather, with daytime temperatures in the 70s°F and plenty of sunshine. Evenings and early mornings can be cooler, generally in the 40s to 50s°F, so we recommend bringing light layers for comfortable days and cooler evenings.
WHAT TO PACK
Resort and sportswear are appropriate for the General Session and daytime activities. Shoes and cover-ups are required in all indoor restaurants, lounges, lobbies, and public areas.
President’s Welcome Reception Join us for an evening of classic road-trip vibes, plenty of food & beverage, and good times as we kick off the convention and get our kicks on Route 66! Attire: Resort Casual (held outdoors – may get chilly after dark)
Auction Dinner A relaxed evening of fun and support for the WTBA Scholarship Fund. Attire: Resort Casual
