Every year, WTBA awards two different types of scholarships to deserving college students studying in transportation construction industry fields. Winners receive their scholarships during WTBA’s Contractor-Engineer Conference in January. WTBA awarded seven total scholarships in January 2023.
WTBA recognizes how much time, effort, and money students eyeing a career in transportation construction commit toward earning their degrees and beginning their careers.
WTBA’s Engineering Scholarships are worth $5,000 each. Engineering Technician scholarships are worth $3,000 each. Details on both types and how to apply are below.

What you’ll need to apply
- Cover letter detailing your interest in transportation construction and why you’re deserving of a WTBA scholarship (PDF or Word Doc)
- Two professional letters of recommendation (PDF or Word Doc)
- Official copy of latest school transcript (PDF or JPG)

Engineering Scholarship: $5,000
All Civil/Construction Engineering students at Marquette University, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Platteville, UW-Stout, Milwaukee School of Engineering & Michigan Tech are eligible.
- Special consideration to students who are residents of Wisconsin
- Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management and related curriculums
- Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry
Engineering Technician Scholarship: $3,000
All Engineering Technician students at Chippewa Valley, Madison Area, Mid-State, Northeastern WI and Milwaukee Area Technical Colleges are eligible to apply.
- Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management, or related curriculums
- Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry
