When Jackie Spoor joined the Wisconsin Concrete Pavement Association staff in 2018, President Kevin McMullen believed he had hired his eventual replacement.
This week, that trust paid off. Spoor accepted the job of WCPA president on Monday.
In a Facebook post, Spoor says following in McMullen’s footsteps is a privilege, calling him an exceptional leader.
“Under (Kevin’s) leadership, we have established strong partnerships with national, state, and local organizations, as well as academia,” Spoor said. “I am committed to maintaining and strengthening these partnerships as we move forward.”
McMullen, meanwhile, isn’t leaving WCPA. He is sliding into the vice president role after 25 years at the Association’s helm. McMullen plans to retire in Aug. 2024.
“I am asking all of the WCPA members, our ACPA counterparts and the entire industry in Wisconsin to offer their congratulations and support to Jackie Spoor as she takes on her new role. I will be doing everything that I can to make sure that she is successful,” McMullen wrote to WCPA members.
Spoor is a 2005 graduate of UW-Platteville. She says her husband and two sons’ support has been essential to her success.
“‘Count on Concrete’ is more than a phrase to us; it is a commitment to excellence and a testament to our dedication to quality,” Spoor said.
