Kids attending school in Milton, Wis. make up only about fourth-tenths of 1% of all K-12 students statewide.
Milton can proudly say its students taking driver’s education make up 25% of all Work Zone Safe Wisconsin scholarship winners after the latest award this month.
High school freshman Ryan Bennett won the $500 Work Zone Safe Wisconsin scholarship for October 2025.
Bennett, 15, took the course because his driver’s education teacher required him to do so as part of his classroom education. Still, he encourages all drivers–regardless of age–to invest the 45 minutes in taking the free online course.
“Take it! For one, you get to learn about how to drive safely around specific areas you might not otherwise,” Bennett told WTBA. “Plus, you have the chance to earn $500.”
Bennett is one of 16 students to win a monthly scholarship for successfully completing the program since its launch in April 2024. The Wisconsin County Highway Association sponsors the scholarships.
Bennett hopes to own a gym to help train young athletes after graduation. He aims to receive his driver’s license in spring 2026.
