They may not be quite as iconic as the Golden Gate Bridge or Route 66, but Wisconsin’s Zoo and Marquette interchanges are getting a nationwide shoutout this week, nonetheless.

The freeway interchanges are two of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association’s (ARTBA) “250 Transportation Projects That Helped Build America.”

ARTBA launched a special website highlighting many of those projects as part of the nation’s semiquincentennial celebrations this week.

WTBA members led the charge in reconstructing both the Zoo (celebrated with a special ribbon cutting ceremony in 2023) and the Marquette (done in 2008).

ARTBA’s list also salutes the Hoan Bridge rehab work from 2015, the Port of Milwaukee, which was built in 1835, and the Hiawatha Rail Corridor.
